Classes Winter/Spring 2012
Jewelry I
A course for beginners. Learn how to use a jeweler's saw and file for piercing, and silver solder to complete projects. Projects will implement various finishing techniques including surface treatments and patinas. Work with silver, copper and brass to create a band ring and bezel set stone pendant. Supply costs vary; an approximate cost is $75. No class 7/5. Fee: $80.

Jewelry II
Jewelry I or equivalent experience necessary. Take your jewelry making skills to the next level with this intermediate to advanced jewelry making class. In this class, you will learn techniques for working with metal such as forming/forging, surface treatments, hollow forms, hinges, alternative connections and stone settings, and other techniques as time allows. New techniques may be introduced each session. Supply costs vary; an approximate cost is $50. Fee: $80.

Jewelry Sampler
Jewelry I or equivalent experience recommended. Learn the use of tools and basic Jewelry techniques for acid-etching, enameling and lost-wax casting. Approximate supply cost: $75. Fee: $80.

Jewelry Open Studio
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. For safety, only experienced participants are eligible. Must be currently enrolled in a City of Tempe jewelry class or have completed a Tempe jewelry class within the last year. Fee: $80.

Entry level class. Designed for beginners, but advanced students may work independently.
Design,layout,carving, and finishing the model will be covered.
Turn found objects into metal. Use tree branches and leaves, spices, bark, or plastics from doll parts to ball point pens, anything that will burn at 1250F.
Cast pieces can be utilized to create jewelry or sculpture. May be cast in silver, bronze or gold.
